Educational Leadership, EdS

    Program Description

The Educational Leadership department in the College of Education is pleased to announce the opening of the Education Specialist Degree (EdS) application process.

The Education Specialist degree is after the completion of a Master’s degree and puts candidates on a solid path to earning a doctorate. The Professional Administrator License is also built into the EdS and allows the candidate to serve as a K-12 administrator in Oregon at the District or Education Service District (ESD) levels, including a Superintendent position. The EdS allows a candidate to be eligible for federal financial aid while working on the administrator license, whereas a license only program does not. Many states require an Education Specialist degree to serve in the role of Superintendent.

The Education Specialist degree consists of 45 credits, including a 7 credit Clinical Internship experience taken over two terms. The program is intended to be completed over a two-to-three-year period. The majority of EdS credits may transfer into the Doctorate of Education if the candidate pursues that degree within 7 years.

EdS candidates may also begin Fall or Winter terms
